MayorRonMorrisonMayorCherylCoxSheriffGoreMARYE.TERRYGunthorppassedawayonOctober292009aftercomplicationsfromayearlongbattlewithcancer.TerrywasanactiveChambermemberandlongtimeorganizeroftheCitysAutomobileHeritageDayCarShow.Hercontributionsoverthepast18yearshavemadethecarshowagreatsuccess.ShewasamemberoftheMercedesBenzClub-SanDiegoSectionandservedontheBoardofDirectors.InadditionshewashonoredasthefirstwomanevertoserveasSectionPresidentoftheMercedesBenzClubUSA.ShewasalsoamemberoftheAntiqueAutomobileClubofSanDiego.TerryandhusbandBobsharedaloveofcarsandparticipatedinnumerouscarralliescarshowsandparades.HerfavoriteparadewastheCoronadoFourthofJulyParadewhereshecouldbeseenridinginher57redMercedesconvertibleinherfamousfloweredhatsmilingandwavingtothecrowd.Terryissurvivedbyherhusbandof43yearsBobofSanDiegoherfourwonderfulchildrenRobertaMahanayCarlofImperialBeachDonaldKiddArleneGaryKiddandWilliamBillytheKiddKiddMichelleofOregonherfivegrandchildrenDebbieEideCharlesSoderberyVickieDonaldBrickWendiMitchellKiddandShannonKiddandhertwogreat-grandchildrenJessicaEideandShellySoderberyandnumerousextendedfamilyandfriends.TheSouthCountyEconomicDevelopmentCouncilSCEDCtogetherwiththePortofSanDiegoCityofNationalCityandtheSouthCountyChambershostedthe5thAnnualElectedOfficialsReceptiononOctober29.Pier32providedabeautifulsettingforthe425businessesandcommunityleaderswhoconveyedwhatthebusinesscommunityneedsfromourelectedofficials.MayorRonMorrisonandPortCommissionerDukieValderramatookturnsatthemicrophonewelcomingattendeesandhighlightingtheexampleofcooperationthatleadtothecreationofPier32.Theannualeventbegan5yearsagowhenSCEDCcreatedthisforumtohighlightthebeautyofSouthCounty.TheeventdrawsbusinessleadersfromallovertheregionandisanchoredbyourSouthCountyofficialsconveyingthelatesteconomicprojectstheirrespectivejurisdictionshavetooffer.ThankstothegenerosityofthePortofSanDiegoCityofNationalCityandthefoodandvendorcontributorsthiseventwasfree.EventsSPECIALFarewellTerrySCEDCElectedOfficialsReception18Winter2009
